Ecologically Sustainable
Pacific Harbour's location on the edge of a 6,000-hectare marine park has always been both its greatest asset and its biggest challenge. The highest levels of creativity and innovation have been required to establish a sustainable waterfront community in such an environmentally sensitive location. Envisaged as a showpiece for ecologically-aware development, the Pacific Harbour Golf and Country Club is already winning accolades - including Champion Demonstration Project for Sustainable Development, in a joint initiative by the Urban Development Institute and the Environmental Protection Agency.
Architectural Guidelines promote a 'green' building philosophy with homesites complete with underground rainwater tanks providing water for household use, solar cells are used to generate electricity and reduce energy bills, and gardens that will be an extension of the natural surrounds.
